Hello! My name is Janette Constantino. I’m a photographer. I have been in love with photography since I picked up my first camera at 13 years old; a red Canon Snappy. I learned how to roll, process and print film almost 30 years ago.
I began my career as a freelance photojournalist at 17; working for small newspapers in Kansas. When I joined the military, I continued my work in the media field as an Air Force photojournalist, editor, and public relations specialist, traveling to different locations including South Korea. Our unit earned multiple awards from the Air Mobility Command for our work as photojournalists. After exiting the military, I began working freelance as a portrait and wedding photographer.
I received my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Emporia State University in Kansas in 1997. To keep up with the wonders of modern technology, I pursued my Associates of Science in Digital Photography from the Art Institute, graduating in 2014. My next step is a Master's of Fine Arts. I'm anticipating obtaining my MFA by 2020. After 20 years as a military spouse and multiple moves, my husband and I have retired here in San Antonio. We have three unique and creative children.
Photojournalism is all about capturing the moments that express a story. I take that style and tell the stories of children and families, I’m infectiously enthusiastic and have a passion for telling those stories through the lens of the camera.
